April 6 – PCS Weekly Bulletin #3

It’s been an amazing week of start-up. Our staff have been working exceptionally hard to have things running as quickly as possible. It’s involved long hours and a steep learning curve. I’ve been so encouraged by their commitment and desire to live out our mission to “nurture students in Christ-like living, critical thinking and joyful service to be faithful citizens in God’s world“.

In the midst of the extraordinary times we live in,  I believe that  perhaps more than ever our role of speaking a Christian perspective into the events of the day is crucial. as children (and us!) seek to make sense of all of this. I look forward to sharing some of the successes and challenges as we move forward.

Thank you to the many of you who have passed on encouragement to all of our team. We so appreciate your prayers. Know that it’s reciprocated. Our teachers, and staff are praying for you. It’s part of what makes belonging to PCS truly special.

Essential Service Workers who indicated that they require childcare support should have been contacted by our staff this week. If you have not been contacted and need support, please ensure you have completed our request form. If you have completed the form and have not been contacted, we encourage you to contact our staff via email.

PCS was one of the first independent schools in the province to offer Emergency Tuition Assistance as one part of our response to the pandemic. If you have suffered a significant decline in income due to job loss or work stoppage, assistance may be available. The application is currently active. To be considered for assistance prior to May payment, applications must be received by April 24. We are encouraged that many have contributed to support this fund as we journey through this as a community.

We have created a PCS Financial FAQ for those who are wondering about the impact of Covid on our income and expenses and steps PCS has been taking to confront the financial challenges we face.

Blessings,
Darren Lewis
Superintendent
